The World’s Biggest Festival, Oktoberfest Comes Soon
Are you ready to party! The world’s biggest fair is about to begin! Many guests and visitors from all corners of the globe will be partying again in this festival. For sure, millions of liters of beer will be consumed again. Oktoberfest is a 16-day festival celebrating beer in this area called Theresienwiese in Munich, Germany. It is held annually from late September to the first weekend of October.
This year commemorates the 180th Oktoberfest celabration and year celebration and for sure, a lot of fun, entertainment and excitements are waiting for all of us.
One of the beer tents in Munich’s Oktoberfest. You can also see the Lebkuchen herzen or Gingerbread Hearts with various wordings on it. These things are everywhere you look and can usually be found at just about any German fair or celebration. Some of the ladies in the photo are wearing Dirndl, a traditional Bavaria costume.
Since it is a beer celebration, I can’t imagine beer lovers drinking again masses of beers inside the beer tents and so as outside. So sad because a bottle of beer is enough for me. I just love to go around, taste local delicacies and take pictures during the festival. This year’s festival will be held on September 21 to October 6. I also shared below the programs during the 2013 Oktoberfest.
Going to the Oktoberfest by car is not recommended, so the best way to get there is Munich’s public transport network.
Local Delicacies:
Visitors may also enjoy a wide variety of traditional food such as Hendl (chicken), Schweinebraten (roast pork), Schweinshaxe (grilled ham hock), Steckerlfisch (grilled fish on a stick), Würstl (sausages) along with Brezeln (pretzel), Knödel (potato or bread dumplings), Käsespätzle (cheese noodles), Reiberdatschi (potato pancakes), Sauerkraut or Rotkohl/Blaukraut (red cabbage) along with such Bavarian delicacies as Obatzda (a spiced cheese-butter spread) and Weisswurst (a white sausage).
