Blue Sky in Ascona, Switzerland

I already set the alarm at 7:00 that morning. After fixing myself and taking the breakfast in our hotel in Baveno, Italy, I had to make everything ready before the bus will take-off at 9:00 AM. Our next destination that day will be in Ascona.  It tokk for our bus driver over an hour before we reach this town in Switzerland.

Our first stop was the Camille Park Garden in Ascona.  I guess we were too early as we visited the park  last  March 2013.  It is still early spring and the MOST camille  plants  are  still not bearing flowers. There were a few  that were flowering that time.  After almost two  hours  of going around the park and a walk at the  riverside located nearby, we proceeded to the town proper  of Ascona.

To give you bit idea on where Ascona is located, let me continue now. It a municipality in the district of Locarno in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland, located on the shore of Lake Maggiore. It is famous  for its year jazz festival, the Ascona Jazz  Festival, according to our tour guide. This is also one of the reasons why Ascona  became a popular tourist destination. I guess, I am so lucky to be there once in my life! lolz!

According to wikipedia, there are eleven Swiss heritage site of national significance in Ascona. There are three churches on the list, the church of S. Maria della Misericordia with the Collegio Papio, the Church of S. Michele with the ruins of a medieval castle and the Parish Church of Ss. Pietro e Paolo. Three houses are on the list, the Serodine House, the Unifamiliare Tuia House and the Villa at via Ludwig 26. The Balladrum, a prehistoric and medieval settlement as well as the Albergo, a park, complex of houses and the Monte Verità Museum are also on the list. Two museums, the Museo comunale d’arte and the Museo Epper and a theater, the Teatro S. Materno finish out the list. The entire town of Ascona is listed on the Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites.

That was indeed a beautiful day we had in Ascona, blue sky, not so cold spring season as in Germany, good food..what else can you ask for when you are travelling! I am so thankful for seeing many places now and still  wish to visit more.
