Go Travel and The Horse Pond in Salzburg, Austria

This is the Pferdeschwemme or Horse Pond in Salzburg, Austria. It was built in 1695. The horses from the archbishop’s stables were washed here during those times. It was designed by Fischer v. Erlach and the horse frescos were painted by the Court painter Franz Anton Ebner. In the center stands a statue of horse being trained. It was created by sculptor Michael Mandl. The splendid Horse Pond underlines the importance of horses in the Baroque period.
We forgot to get a closer picture of the Horse Pond. Hopefully in our next trip to Austria next time. Have a great day and have fun viewing.
